It’s DAY SEVEN of 28 DAYS LATER!
February 7th, 2010
ACTION ALERT!
See my statement regarding RIF’s elimination from the federal budget as proposed by the President. Act Now! Reinstate RIF’s Funding. Without it, more than 4.4 million children will not receive free books and reading encouragement.

Day 7 of The Brown Bookshelf’s 28 Days Later finds the spotlight on Bernette Ford. With the opening paragraph I was hooked: Even with more than a dozen books to her credit, Bernette Ford finds it tough to think of herself as an author. She’s an editor, a mentor, a wife, a mother. But an author? She doesn’t easily claim that title as her own. But then as I read further, I realized I knew her books although certainly not all of them. FIRST SNOW by Ford with illustrations by French born illustrator Sebastien Braun has been a favorite of mine since it was published in 2005 and earned starred reviews among other accolades. I was excited to read in the interview on The Brown Bookshelf how Ford came to collaborate with Braun. There is much more in this fun interview with Bernette Ford conducted by Kelly Starling Lyons. Enjoy!
Happy Reading!
