Dear Carol, RIF Staff & RIF Sponsors,

On behalf of the students, families, and staff of Arctic Light Elementary, THANK YOU! We are very honored to be selected as the Grand Prize winner for RIF’s 43rd Birthday Photo Contest, especially with so many fantastic entries from RIF Ambassadors around the country.

Any RIF event, large or small, gives us an opportunity to have fun, work together, and support each other. Like for this birthday photo…..our families are celebrating the return of our soldiers from the year long Iraq deployment, and some of our families are from America Samoa –they’ve had a few worried weeks about family & friends after the earthquake/tsunami, so this birthday photo card gave us a chance to get together and SMILE!

We wish RIF a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

    Happy 43rd Birthday RIF!
Thanks for providing another tremendous opportunity for our RIF Kids at West Shreveport Elementary School to participate in a national “fun” birthday event of this enormity that allows them to engage in friendly creative competition with other boys and girls who enjoy books and reading. This level of positive exposure for our Kids is truly an exciting and rewarding experience.

Again, on behalf of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Delta Lambda Omega Chapter RIF Literacy Corps, we want to commend National Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. for all that you do for children and their families. We are delighted to have been a part of your colossal literacy contributions to the nation for the past 30+ years.

Lueburda Jamison Myers, Louisiana RIF Ambassador
    Sharon McCarty, Chapter President
    Shirley Pierson, School Principal

Happy Birthday RIF from the staff and students of Chief Shikellamy Elementary! And thank you so much for voting our photo Most Creative. We had so much fun taking the photo and were so proud of our effort that we hung it around the school for everyone to see. We celebrated with a book give-away on the 3rd. After seeing the photos of the chocolate cakes though, I think you guys in D.C. had some fun too!
