Learn more about Rishawn who chose “Jump!” at a distribution in Chicago!
RIF is pleased to present RIF in Chicago as another Program of the Month for October; this program has been serving the Chicago metro area for more than 30 years. Thanks to their efforts many Chicago residents are familiar with Reading Is Fundamental as evidenced when RIF and Macy’s shared a booth this past summer at the National Urban League Conference in Chicago. Many conference attendants approached the booth and offered stories about being a RIF kid themselves years ago, with several happily noting their own children continue to receive RIF books. RIF’s partnership with MACY’S on the Book a Brighter Future campaign was especially exciting because it allowed many residents to give back to an organization that they or someone they knew had benefit ted from.

Evan Georgi, the RIF Coordinator, is a very dedicated and an energetic proponent of RIF. She makes a tremendous impact on many children’s lives through initiatives like Project Open Book which provides books to children in waiting rooms at a local hospital The Englewood Project where expanded school programming and parent education is carried out, and Adolescents-at-Risk, which targets high school students as well as the Follett Essay and Poster Contest for all RIF kids in Chicago.

This summer, Rep. Mike Quigley recognized RIF in Chicago on the floor of the US House of Representatives for extraordinary effort and outstanding impact serving the children of Chicago!
